When I have AI generate with little direction from me, I feel what gets created is foreign to me or unappealing.

Really, I have little sense of ownership with what was generated.

What AI creates feels very much like a guest room.

I didn’t create the furniture in the guest room, but I also didn’t have any choice in the matter of how the furniture was placed or the decorations that were added. This just doesn’t feel like home.

Even if I was to work at someone else’s desk, the same feeling would occur. It would be difficult to work in that space because it is not mine. I would have no level of comfort or familiarity.

For me, I feel a sense of ownership about the craftmanship of content and code.

If I modify the output my feeling of ownership starts to rise. The more I modify the more I have a sense of agency.

The more direction I give AI also helps with the level of ownership I feel.

Have agency over what AI generates or it will forever feel like living in a guest room.
