Collaboration Part 2: Note the Collective

by Chance Smith

Continuing the topic of Sounding Collaborative, parts of us want the ability to move quickly and go the distance.

”If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.” - African Proverb

Yet as we work together, how might we sound collaborative when not asking questions?

The answer: note the collective by using “us” and “we.”

  • “Look how much we accomplished.”
  • “We crushed it this week!”
  • “It’s up to us to decide how…”

We > me.

When you use “we” and “us” you’re including the team in your wording.
